Welcome to the Official Website of Dr. William Thomas Thornborrow, PhD

I’m Dr. William Thomas Thornborrow PhD, and I’d like to thank you for visiting our website.

My journey began in Leith, Edinburgh, where I was born in June 1958. From an early age, I was drawn to challenge, service, and continuous learning. That spirit first led me to the Parachute Regiment, where I proudly served from 1976 to 1982, including active tours in Northern Ireland and the Falklands. War.

After leaving the military, I carried forward the same discipline and commitment into my academic and professional life. I pursued a BA in Philosophy and Psychology with the Open University, while also completing an HND in Business Administration.

My passion for understanding people and organisations continued to grow, leading me to earn an MBA at Nottingham University (1993–94) and later a PhD in Organisational Behaviour at Nottingham University Business School, which I successfully completed in 2005.

Along the way, I discovered a deep love for teaching and mentoring. I’ve had the privilege of teaching Organisational Behaviour and the Philosophy of Research at some of the world’s leading business schools. My career also took me to Southeast Asia, where I served as an Associate Professor at Nottingham University’s Malaysia campus and later as Dean of a local Malaysian Business School. More recently, I worked with Lancaster University as Director of Partnership Development at their Malaysian partnership, helping to build meaningful academic collaborations.

Today, my focus is on sharing insights and wisdom gained from a life dedicated to continuous learning — sparked by military service, studies and practiced in academia, and tested in leadership. Whether through teaching, mentoring, or partnership development, my goal has always been to help people and organisations unlock their human potential.

This website is a space where I share my story, my experiences, and ongoing work. I invite you to explore, connect, and join me on this journey.

It all happens inside your mind, nowhere else.
